Different Ways People Earn Money

LEARNING OPPORTUNITY:

Kids at this age need to start thinking about their career choices. The decisions they make now about courses at high school will affect their future education possibilities. Often kids have no idea what career they are interested in pursuing. They have no idea what personality traits are needed for different careers. This on line game will expose them to a variety of jobs in the community and just might spark an interest they may want to pursue.

THE ACTIVITY:
  • Open the following link to a game called “Kid’s Work”: http://www.knowitall.org/kidswork/ The game has 4 different sections.
    1. Discover the History of the career field by using a timeline.
    2. Play three Job Play activities that provide an interactive virtual work experience.
    3. Meet Real People who work in this profession.
    4. Explore the Work Zone and learn more about a real workplace.
  • Play the game with your child and discuss the pros and cons of each job.
