LEARNING OPPORTUNITY:

Learning how to manage money is a skill that needs to be taught at a very young age. Watching this video explains to your child how people earn money and what they can do with their earnings. In the video Elmo learns that he can put his money in three jars, one jar for saving, one jar for spending, and one jar for sharing with others.

THE ACTIVITY:

• Talk about how Elmo earned money and what he decided to do with his money.

FOLLOW-UP IDEAS:

• Talk about little jobs or chores around the house that your child could do to earn money.
• Find three jars or cans. Label the jars or cans: Saving, Spending, Sharing. This will start a “For Me, For You, For Later” money management program for your child.
